Since nowadays, as ASEAN region and the world are facing many challenges caused by environmental negative impacts, SCG focuses our effort on collaboration to promote Circular Economy, with a series of Zero-Waste projects. As a company that has operations across ASEAN, SCG is proud to host a program that reaches to passionate young generations of regional countries. This will be a good start for young people from the region to be bonded and learn to live, work and share together toward a common sustainability future for everyone. I believe these young people of ASEAN, with the right mindset, will be driving force to create positive change for their own communities in the future”.
Throughout the 5-day program, the attended students are trained about leadership mindset in a challenging era. They have learnt how to recognize their own values by acknowledging others; to develop leadership skills by becoming first a good follower; to contribute to the society where they live in; and to network and unite toward a common goal.
Besides, SCG has led the way to Circular Economy by introducing the participants to the corporate’s practical projects using the concept, including the Recycled Plastic Road or the Fish House Project using recycled PE100 plastic from SCG.
Especially, two (02) representatives from each country were given chance to raise their voice in the ASEAN Sustainable Development Symposium – an annual international conferences held by SCG about a particular environmental issue in their countries. The chosen youth from seven countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Philippines and Vietnam showed their passions and determination to address various environmental challenges that the region is facing including plastic waste, air pollution, water shortage, water pollution, deforestation, ocean waste and climate change.
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Han (Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine) and Le Thi Truc Quy (University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City) shared in their speech at the Symposium: “Climate Change is not just a problem of Vietnam, it’s the problem of all ASEAN.
