SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2022 – Vietnam officially launched
to inspire the young to Rethink For Better Normal
Ho Chi Minh City, 13/08/2022 – Following the success in 2021, the SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2022 – Vietnam contest has officially launched and opened for entries from August 1st to September 30 th , 2022 . Via this contest, SCGP, a leading multinational consumer packaging solutions provider, aims to inspire the young generation to design sustainable packaging and thus make the world better. In addition to offering young people opportunities to unleash their creativity in the design field, the SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2022 – Vietnam contest also carries out a mission of promoting the growth of the packaging design industry and redefining a better normal for the next generation.
On the theme “Rethink for Better Normal”, the SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2022 – Vietnam contest welcomes youngsters across Vietnam to design sustainable packaging under “EASY to RECYCLE” or “UPCYCLE” topics. While “EASY to RECYCLE” calls for structural package designs that are easy to assemble for recycling or graphic designs on packaging that communicate to consumers how to recycle the packaging in an uncomplicated way, UPCYCLE encourages ideas that help to extend the packaging’s lifespan before discarding by transforming the packaging after the product is taken out so that it can be used again.
As a fast-growing country, Vietnam generates a considerable amount of waste per year, however, only 30 percent of it is processed whereas 70 percent got buried. Meanwhile, it is scientifically proven that recycling 135 tons of waste can save 3.5 million liters of water, 1.9 million trees, 500,000 KW/h of electricity, and 1,300 m3 of landfill. Meanwhile, using recycled paper can reduce air pollution by 74 percent and water pollution by 35 percent. Therefore, waste recycling is one of the effective ways to tackle this challenge and help limit the exploitation of natural resources.
Aligned with the priorities of the Vietnamese government while moving to a green economy, the SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2022 – Vietnam gives local young designers the opportunity to address and propose solutions for the ongoing issues of waste management, while also standing a chance to win prizes up to a total value of 130 million VND.
“At SCGP, we define “new normal” as adapting to the situation and taking initiatives to make things better than before. In our field of expertise, SCGP aims at changing and enhancing the value of packaging, turning waste into valuable and eco-friendly products. Realizing that the young generation with confidence, creativity, and green mindset plays an important role in the development of the packaging industry, we bring back the SCGP Packaging Speak Out 2022 – Vietnam contest, a playground for them to nurture their talents, express their creativity, and join hands to make the world a better place,” said Mr. Sompob Witworrasakul, Chief Regional Officer, SCGP.
