SCG SHARING THE DREAM SCHOLARSHIP 2021 EMPOWERS THE NATIONWIDE YOUTH TO CONTINUE EDUCATION PATHWAY DESPITE DIFFICULTIES CAUSED BY COVID-19
Ho Chi Minh City, December 16th, 2021 : The ASEAN leading conglomerate SCG today announces the launch of its 14th annual scholarship SCG Sharing The Dream Scholarship 2021, in Ho Chi Minh city, the journey wraps up with 10 scholarships for university students, aiming to empower nationwide youth to overcome the challenges caused by the pandemic and pursue their education for a brighter future. Under the theme of “Dare to Dream”, the program not only provides financial support to the in-need students but also inspires the youth to live up to their dreams despite difficulties. Accordingly, SCG will hand over 42 continuous scholarships (university level only) and 250 scholarships totaling more than 2,1 billion VND to high school and university students across the country. Besides, the company also partnered up with Hoa Hoc Tro Magazine to launch the “Dare to Dream” Contest, encouraging the young people to speak up their voices, thrive against the adversity in life and look up to a bright future ahead.
Talking about the purpose SCG Sharing The Dream Scholarship 2021 program, Mr. Piyapong Jriyasetapong, General Director of SCG Vietnam Co., Ltd said: “This year, the pandemic has had a greater impact on students and especially the disadvantaged one. Despite the bigger gap between those students and their education path, their passion to overcome life obstacles is greater than ever. Therefore, SCG wants to empower them to overcome life difficulties and continue their spirit of learning, to become a competent citizen for society. Besides, our flagship SCG Sharing The Dream scholarship program has also reaffirmed SCG’s effort to human development and a better living in Vietnam.”
It is well known that before to arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the SCG Sharing The Dream 2021 rolled out to 05 locations including Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Long An, with a mix of scholarships rangi ng from high school to university. Upon the qualification, each student will get financial aid and have opportunities to improve their soft – skills in many areas via training.
Mr. Lê Xuan Dung – Director of Student Support Center, Ho Chi Minh City said: “ In the face of economic difficulties caused by COVID-19, the support of SCG at this moment is very valuable. With such encouragement, I believe our students could thrive against the challenges, to pursue their education and therefore have hope for a better future ahead .”.
Thach Tran Dang Khoa is a valedictorian of Business Administration at International University – National University of Ho Chi Minh City with the dream of having owned a chain of organic food stores to provide foods and drinks made entirely from nature, without preservatives, to malnourished children and people suffering from serious diseases such as blood fat, cancer, cirrhosis, and so on. Besides that, Khoa also wishes to establish a study promotion fund for poor students from disadvantaged backgrounds, allowing them to continue their learning journey, nurture their everlasting ambitions, and become good citizens for society in the future.
Dinh Le Minh Thang , a Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology student who wishes to work in the cosmetic chemistry industry after graduation, has established a very clear learning growth plan in his four years at university. In addition to his professional objectives, is involved in charitable activities in Ho Chi Minh City to help in difficult circumstances. “Through these activities, I can contribute to the efforts to bring value toward others,” Thang said.
Furthermore, the stories of young people who received the SCG Sharing the Dream scholarship in previous years are equally inspiring.
Like Nguyen Minh Luan, received this scholarship for three consecutive years, is the current Deputy Director of the Student Support and Counseling Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. Luan expressed his aim with the interview team from the day he attended the scholarship interview in his first year to establish an environment where young people can practice soft skills and better themselves. And SCG has been a powerful support for Luan in realizing his dream, thus he has been participating in activities to promote students’ academics and life since he was a freshman. “The previous two years have been a hard journey of efforts from the shyest student with an unfulfilled goal, which he has been steadily achieving due to the incubation from SCG and the support of SAC,” Luan explained.
And Nguyen Vu Nhu Quynh, received this scholarship for four consecutive years, a final-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, is presently working on the project “Edible wrapping film for instant noodles,” which is inspired from training about the circular economy model from SCG. SCG Sharing the Dream scholarship not only gives financial assistance to overcome life’s challenges, but it also enhances the community’s valuable ideals that SCG is pushing for her, particularly the environment. Quynh mentioned: “Because of my habit of eating instant noodles and the present issue of plastic waste, I wondered why instant noodles are wrapped in so many layers of plastic, leading to pollution. Because of environmental pollution, I researched international documents related to my major in food technology with my friends in order to solve this problem, which is to make food – packaging items.”
This is just one of many inspirational stories from SCG Sharing The Dream 2021 awardees. And the journey of supporting dreams, encouraging the spirit of “Dare to dream” will continue across Vietnam in the next few years.
In an attempt to make a bigger positive impact on the youth, this year, SCG has also co-operated with Hoa Hoc Tro Magazine to host the “Dare to Dream” Contest. The contest encourages young people to share their own stories of how they have overcome challenges in life and keep up with their dreams via education. With such meanings, it has become a new platform for Gen Z to speak up their voices and empower them to thrive with passions.
With the belief that the young generation can seek for a better life through education, SCG Sharing The Dream Scholarship is one of SCG’s continuous efforts to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam. SCG Sharing Dream Scholarship 2021 begins its journey on October 29th , 2021, in Hai Duong province to provide students with great encouragement to overcome challenges and help them in continuing to achieve their dreams.

SCG and Quang Binh Provincial Youth Union have expressed their concern to the young generation through the SCG Sharing the Dream 2021 scholarship, which provided 50 scholarships to disadvantaged students to help them to overcome difficulties on December 5, 2021.
Because of the epidemic situation, the SCG Sharing the Dream 2021 scholarship award ceremony in Ho Chi Minh was held online on December 11th, 2021.
SCG has awarded 50 scholarships to students in Thai Binh province – the last destination of the 14th year journey of the scholarship.
SCG accompanies Nguyen Minh Luan (the 2nd from right to left), Vice President of Student Support and Counseling Center of HCMC University of Technology and Education, on the journey to conquering the dream of creating build an environment for young people to practice soft skills and improve themselves.
Trinh Thi Ngan, a student at Hai Duong University of Medical Technology, joined the volunteer team to support the prevention of Covid-19 pandemic.
Nguyen Dinh Van, a student at the Mechanical Engineering at Red Star University (Hai Duong), shared his joy when he was given more motivation by SCG to strive for success in the future and become the pride of his family .
SCG cooperated with the Youth Union of Long An province to share difficulties and accompanied Tran Bao Nguyen, a student at Bo De Phuong Duy school cum the leader of the water production team at a local temple, to continue writing his dream of studying and becoming an architect in the future.
SCG accompanies Bui Thi Hong Tam, the first valedictorian of the Engineering – Information Technology of Quang Binh University , from the first days of entering the university.
SCG’s scholarship is a bridge, which connects Nguyen Thi To Uyen (a 12th grader at Nam Dan 2 High School, Nghe An) and her dream of studying at the University of Foreign Languages and becoming an interpreter in the future.
Tran Viet Thanh (a student of grade 12 at Red Flag High School, Nghe An province ) always tries his best to overcome difficulties, never stops on the path of learning with the dream of entering a university of medicine and becoming a doctor to help the community.
